Jill Louise Campbell Art Gallery

After Painting for a year in The South Of France we moved Salt Spring Island in 1990 and with a large portfolio I decided to showcase these paintings at The Saturday Market in Ganges. Within a year I opened my first commercial Gallery in Ganges often painting in this little cottage by the sea. For the next 25 years I have had many painting studios. An ironing board in France, gardens in Languedoc and Tuscany. An old coast guard cottage in Ireland. India, China, Tibet, American South West, Peru, I wrote my inspirations in cafes and hotel rooms, photographed and shared my writings. Much has been translated into painting series. A lifetime of resources await painting retreat time. Self Taught, my courage came from my Grandmother and Aunts, strong women in my life. European Impressionists were foundational, I scoured museums when I lived in Paris for a year in 1971.

Dreams, shamanic work and music are deep resources I draw from that give a whimsical dreamlike quality to paintings of places I have been. Yoga, meditation, Qi Gong practice help to keep me centered.
